Meet our 2020–2021 Community Grants Program grantees

For the 2020–2021 grant cycle, we gave out $583,561 in funds to eight urban Native organizations for chronic disease prevention. Grantees all have programming focusing on chronic disease in Indian Country, ranging from obesity to respiratory cancer. The 2020–2021 awardees are:

Our Sage grants, in Year 2 of our grant cycle, were awarded to urban Native health and human service organizations and urban Indian organizations which have programming focused on Indigenous approaches to obesity and commercial tobacco use and cessation. These awardees received grants of up to $95,000 for their programming efforts.

Our Sweetgrass grants focused on building public health programs related to chronic respiratory disease prevention and management in Year 4 of our grant cycle. Chronic respiratory diseases include, but are not limited to, respiratory cancers (tracheal, lung, bronchial, larynx, etc.), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and asthma. These awardees receive grants of $10,000 for their programming efforts.
