Health Department Officials Discuss AI/AIN Health with SIHB/UIHI

John Wiesman, the Washington State Secretary of Health, and other officials from his office visited the Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB) and Urban Indian Health Institute (UIHI) on Friday, March 4, 2016. In addition to building relationships, these leaders and staff focused discussions on the health status and priorities of urban American Indians and Alaska Natives in Washington State. SIHB CEO Esther Lucero, SIHB Board Member Fred Lauth, UIHI Associate Director Byron Larson, and Scientific Director Adrian Dominquez along with staff welcomed Secretary of Health John Wiesman, Deputy Secretary/Chief of Health Equity Dennis Worsham, Director of Community Relations and Equity Paj Nandi, and Washington State Public Health Association President Jack Thompson for this significant meeting. Participants look forward to building on this foundation to expand our collective understanding of the health issues facing urban American Indians and Alaska Natives in Washington State and effective ways to improve AI/AN health.
