Auntie Affirmations

Welcome to Auntie Affirmations. Across Indian Country, aunties have always been there. They call to make sure we made it home. They feed us before we know we are hungry. They tell us the truth, even when the truth is hard. They remind us who we are when the world has tried to make us forget. UIHI brought together 20 incredible aunties from across Indian Country to share messages of love, laughter, encouragement, and belonging. Their words carry the wisdom of their ancestors, the strength of their communities, and their hopes for the generations still to come. They remind us that we never walk alone. Through videos, a journal, and a supportive hotline, Auntie Affirmations brings you the voices of aunties who see you, love you, and believe in you. When you need an auntie, our aunties are here.

I think it's important to cultivate joy because without joy, what is life?
-- Auntie Lael

Auntie Affirmations Videos

Native aunties bring wisdom, compassion, and honesty to serious conversations. But they’re also famous for their sense of humor and readiness to laugh.

I want you to remember your ancestors are always with you. And aunties like me, we got your back.
-- Auntie Abigail

When you need encouragement, a few well-chosen words from your auntie can guide you towards a greater understanding of yourself and your place in the community. Watch as these aunties respond in depth to common concerns around identity, belonging, and learning more about your people.

You are us. We are you. We are more powerful when we're together. And we're united.
-- Auntie Malia

Each auntie also gives her own advice to viewers in separate videos. Hear from Cecilia Firethunder and many others on our YouTube Shorts webpage.
