Using the Data Dashboard

Get the most out of our data dashboard

Go to the data dashboard.

The first page of the dashboard contains background information on urban Indian populations and a description of urban Indian health (UIH) services areas as well as the services provided by Urban Indian Health Programs (UIHPs) and urban Indian social service and faith-based organizations.

There are multiple ways to navigate the dashboard:

  • Click on any topic at the top using the tabs
  • Browse through topics using the arrows located on the left and right ends of the bar
  • Click on the leftmost button in the navigation bar (arrow pointing down). This option pulls down a menu of all available topics that you can click on to take you to the topic page you want to view.

Topics

The dashboard is updated on a regular basis as UIHI adds new topics of interest.

Current topics:

  • Methods and analyses
  • Indicator selection and data sources
  • Locations of UIH service area locations
  • Map of the UIH service areas
  • Sociodemographics
  • Mortality
  • Maternal and child health
  • Sexually transmitted diseases
  • Substance use
  • Mental health.

*Please note that not all of these topics are available for all locations due to sample size constraints.

*Please contact UIHI if you have any feedback or content areas that you would like to see incorporated into the data dashboard.

On each topic page, you will find a brief description of the topic, a brief comparison statement of the data being reviewed, data visualization (graphs), and confidence intervals (for select topics, found by hovering over the bar graphs).

Comparisons

To compare data, click on the “Geography” drop down menu in the upper right. Choose the service area you want to view. Next, go to the “Compare to” drop down menu and choose the service area you’d like to compare with. The graph with then show both service areas.

This can be done for select topics.

*Note that “All UIH Service Areas” represents aggregated data

To look at data for only one service area, select the area from the “Geography” drop down menu and then select “none” from the “Compare to” drop down menu.

Mortality Navigation

The “Top Mortality Causes” tab shows the top causes of mortality and top causes of cancer mortality for Natives compared to non-Hispanic white females and males. Similar to the other topic pages, individual service area data can be compared to the “All UIH Service Areas” data as well as between two individual UIH service areas.

In each of the boxes shown, choose the service area to review, choose a service area to compare to (if desired), and choose the race, gender, and category for the data.
